I have a doubt regarding ESIC. If an employee joins the organization on 5th June 11 and leaves the organization on 7th June 11, is it necessary to obtain his ESIC number for compliance? Request for guidance, please.

You can pay the contribution to ESI for these two days; however, the number allocation to "cases" like this is not mandatory. Make sure you are making the payment to the Government.

Have you filled Form No. 1 (declaration) for the employee? If yes, then submit it to the ESI office. ESI will handle the allotment of the ESIC number. On the employer's side, you will be free from your compliance responsibilities.

If you haven't filled the declaration form, then do not include him in the muster roll.

As per my knowledge, if any workman/employee works for 7 days, then only ESIC will apply.

It is not clear whether you have paid that employee or not. If the payment has been made, ESIC should be deducted and deposited into the Government account. For a valid ESIC number, you need to contact the local ESIC office.

Basically, every person whose name appears on the muster roll of the establishment or factory must be enrolled or registered with the ESI within 10 days of joining. Additionally, contributions should be paid to the ESI fund, regardless of whether the individual has worked for just 1 or 2 days.

Secondly, nowadays ESI contributions are processed online. You must submit them online, ensuring the enrollment or registration of each new entrant online. Failure to do so will prevent you from completing the data and obtaining an online-generated challan.

Therefore, it is quite simple to register an employee on the first day of their joining, and you can easily obtain their TIC along with a medical card within five seconds.
