ritumendiratta
Hi, can someone help me with the procedure and criteria for applying for PF for a company that is approximately 2 years old and has fewer than 15 employees right now but is moving towards expansion?

Thanks,
Ritu

Dear Ritu, these are the documents you will need to submit for obtaining a PF code number for the company:

1. Form 5A in duplicate
2. Proforma for coverage in duplicate
3. Photocopy of Memorandum & Article of Association
4. Certificate of Incorporation
5. Copy of PAN card
6. Particulars of Owners/Directors
7. Details of employees in duplicate
8. Employee & Employer contribution
9. A demand draft of that month's contribution
10. Authorized signatory letter
11. Bank account details

Besides these, any other documents may be requested by EPF officers.

Your company is employing 15 employees these days, and you want to apply for a provident fund code number for your company as you are planning to expand. Before submitting an application for the code number, you need to consider the employee strength, including directors (if your company is private limited or limited), as well as employees engaged through any outside agency, such as security and housekeeping staff. After taking these into account, submit the coverage performa to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation along with the necessary documents.

If you have fewer than 20 employees, you may opt for voluntary contributions. For this, you need to discuss with your local PF enforcement officer.
