New to HR: How Do I Calculate TDS on Salary and Understand the Difference from TCS?

Hi seniors, I am newly engaged in the HR department in my company, and I don't have enough knowledge in TDS. However, I should manage these things. So please, I need your valuable suggestions on how to calculate TDS on salary and what the difference is between TDS and TCS.

TDS Deduction and Salary Breakup

In my company, there is only a 10% TDS deduction from salary, and no other salary breakup. How can we create the salary breakup, and what do we need to do at the time of return filing?

Understanding TDS on Salary

TDS on salary depends on the total annual salary of a salaried person. If the salary of the individual exceeds the IT limit, which for the current year 2011-12 is Rs. 180,000, then TDS is applicable.
