Transferring Employees Abroad: Are They Eligible for EPF & ESIC Benefits?

bnp.sewal
Dear All HR Seniors,

Here are two employees transferring to our other factory out of the country. In other countries (like Nepal), they are applicable for EPF & ESIC. Please advise.

Regards.

It depends on the employer. If they are already contributing to EPF or ESI before going to any part of the world, in this case, they are applicable for both.

Thank you.

ESIC Applicability on International Transfers

ESIC is applicable on salaries below $10,000 per month. Is the employee you are sending out of the country earning a salary less than that? Because if it's higher than that, then ESIC is not applicable anyway.

Thank you.

Dear Saswat, Now, the ESI limit is ₹15,000/- (Gross Salary). Oops, sorry, I forgot that. But my point was that the person being sent abroad for work would probably be paid more than that. In the case of PF, I think that is to be paid anyway as long as he is working for the Indian company and not transferred to the rolls of a foreign company. Also of importance is that he may be required to pay for similar schemes in the host country, which the company must not miss out on?
