Salary Fixation Dilemma: Should Contract Workers Be Paid for 26 or 30 Days?

Gayatri2505
Hi Seniors, please help me out. We are about to start salary fixation for contract workers. Can you please tell me whether the worker would be paid for 26 days or 30 days? The management is asking for a reference to the specific act in which it is mentioned. Please help me out, it's urgent.

Regards,
Gayatri

Dear Gayatri,

The worker would be paid for the maximum working days, which depends on the month. If the month has 31 days and the weekly offs are 4, then the worker would be paid for 27 days. If the month has 30 days and the weekly offs are 4, then the worker would be paid for 26 days.

Wages are fixed only for the maximum working days. For any queries, feel free to call me.

Regards.

For a daily paid worker, the multiplication factor is 30/31, as the case may be, to arrive at the monthly wages as the worker is eligible for rest day wages (Sunday). If you divide the monthly wages to calculate the daily wages, the factor is 26/27, as the case may be.

Thank you, Gautam and Pon, for your help. Does this mean that the minimum wages are inclusive of remuneration in respect of the weekly day of rest?
