In the normal course, an employee is entitled to wages/salary if the contract/terms of employment are fulfilled. Similarly, any monetary benefit/facility in lieu of a monetary benefit is extended provided the terms of employment are fulfilled. As for national holidays/paid festival holidays, there is a verbal/written understanding that these days will be paid days, although there is no fulfillment of terms of employment.
Hence, canteen subsidy (which is a facility in lieu of a monetary benefit) is not paid for weekly-off days.
