New to HR: What Exactly Are Employee Engagement Activities and How Do They Differ from Employee Relations?

I'm new to this site and to my HR job too. These days, I'm confused about the terms "Employee Engagement activities" and "Employee relations." One of my friends said that Engagement activities include only the fun workplace activities. Is it so? Are there any other activities included in this? Also, please let me know something about employee relations.

Hello Friends, I work in a Technology Consulting and Software Product Engineering company as an HR. I need to conduct some recreational activities every month. I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest some decent fun activities. Our budget is $1000-1500, we have 110 employees, and the time frame is a maximum of 20 minutes.
