HR Engagement Activities

Hi Friends !
I'm new to this site and to my HR Job too these days I'm confused with the terms
Employee Engagement activities & Employee relation
One of my friend said that the Engagement activities include only the fun at work place activities . Is it so ? or any other activities included in this & also please let me know some thing about employee relations

I'm working in a Technology Consulting and Software Product Engineering company. As an HR, i need to conduct some recreational activities every month. I would appreciate if any one can please suggest some decent fun activities on same. Our budget is 1000-1500, number of employeess are 110 and the time frame is 20 mins max.
