Fire Safety Training Gone Wrong: How Do We Prevent Tragedies Like This?

raghuvaran chakkaravarthy
Team,

Find the Fatality of a Fire Supervisor due to injury during Fire Demonstration in India (Tamil Nadu).

M/s. Hansa, watch out (You were celebrating Fire Week, am I right?). It reminds us that even Safety Training can be dangerous!

Dear all,

I have missed a lot of healthy discussions on our CITRHR EHS forum due to my studies. Hopefully, I will be back soon.

Keep on sharing.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. However, as a precautionary measure, I would like to know which type of fire extinguisher was being used (whether Soda acid/Foam type/dry chemical type).
PTRC
I know of at least three cases where, during training, the trainer met with an accident because of the extinguisher.

Use ABC & CO2 type fire extinguisher. In case it is not working, i.e., non-operable, then do not try to open the same; it could be dangerous. Leave that extinguisher and send it for refilling.

I would also like to know what type of fire extinguisher was being used. We use the ABC type where there is no need to pull any pin; we just press the lever.

The magnanimity of the father is commendable.
