Dear Sumiksha,
Planning the Induction Program
The first important step towards induction is planning the time. Having done a few inductions, I realized that sometimes we give a lot of idle time in between our sessions. First, make a note of timings, i.e., 9 am to 4 pm to be the induction program. Then you divide the day into two sessions. Session 1 should include an introduction about your company, a few important people, and a welcome address. Let this session be interactive. After the welcome address, let every new hire introduce themselves. During the introduction, make them say one thing they like about themselves and one thing they don't, or let them describe themselves in one adjective, e.g., "I am smart Ravi" or "I am beautiful Smitha," and so on.
Interactive Activities
Organize a treasure hunt in this session. Pick 12 items and place them in different departments, allowing the new hires to interact with every person in the department. If the new hire has pleased the person, they will receive a gift. For example, there is a box in the finance department, and Ravi and Suraj are interacting with the accounts officer. If the accounts officer is satisfied with Ravi's or Suraj's activity (like singing a song or reciting poetry), then they will hand over the box to either of them.
Give them 25 minutes for this activity before lunch. Gather the new hires and ask them to share their experiences.
Post-Lunch Activities
You can have lunch, and then after lunch, proceed to session 2 where you discuss all the HR policies, dress code, work hours, etc. After this session, have a tea break. Following the tea break, you can take the new hires on a tour of the company, and then they can disperse.
Additional Notes
1. Make sure that the microphone system and the PC system in the auditorium/induction room are working properly.
2. Implement a ₹10 fine for anyone whose mobile rings during the session. At the end of the day, organize a lottery with the collected money.
3. For anyone arriving late to the session, assign them an activity.
I hope the above has helped you a bit.
Regards
