Dear Sumiksha
The first important step towards Induction is planning the time. Having done a few inductions,I realised that sometimes we give a lot of ideal time in between our sessions. First make a note of timings i,e 9 am to 4 pm to be the induction programme
Then you divide the day into two sessions ,session 1 to have introduction about your company, few important people and welcome address. let this session be an interactive one, after the welcome address, let every new hire introduce themselves. during the introduction, make them say one thing they like about themselves and one thing they dont or let them tell about themselves in one adjective i,e" i am smart ravi or i am beautiful smitha" and so on
organise a treasure hunt in this session. pick 12 items and keep in different departments and allow the new hires to interact with every person in the department. if the new hire has pleased the person, he will get the gift. for example there is a box in finance department and ravi and suraj are interacting with accounts officer.if the accounts officer is satisfied by ravi's or suraj's activity(like sing a song or poetry) then he will hand over the box to either of them
give them 25 minutes time for this before lunch.gather the new hires and ask them to relate their experience.
you can have lunch and then post lunch , the session would be session 2 where you discuss all the hr policies, dressings, time for work, etc. after this session have a tea break. after tea break you can take the new hires for touring the company and then they can disperse.
note:
1.make sure that the mike system and the pc system in the auditorium/induction room is working properly
2.keep a 10rs fine for anybody's mobile ringing during the session.at the end of the day, organise a lottery with the money taken.
3.the person who comes late for the session, make him/her do an activity
I hope the above must have helped you a bit
