Designing a Relocation Policy: What Costs Should Be Covered When Employees Move?

surendra.yarrabolu
Dear Seniors,

Could you please share with me the company relocation policy regarding the charges to be paid for an employee who is transferred from one location to another?

Generally, it varies from company to company. Could you also share with me what aspects are typically covered under the relocation policy? I am in the process of designing a relocation policy and would appreciate your insights.

Please share your thoughts.

Regards,
Surendra

I have asked for what the common points to be taken into consideration while preparing a relocation policy are. I didn't ask you to share the company's relocation policy. Hope you understand my point?

I am working on some analysis for the ME region regarding the relocation and repatriation allowances offered to employees. I would like to learn more about other companies' practices and trends.

Hi,

The major points to consider are: What are the travel allocations you want to put up? Briefly, can the employee have a pre-transfer visit to the relocated area? How many family members would the company pay for travel expenses on relocation? What is the maximum goods truckload allowed per employee grade? What are the conditions for the transport of vehicles? What help is offered to the employee in finding a new place to stay in the relocated area? To what extent is the employee paid relocation expenses based on their grade? Also, consider the minimum distance within which all these considerations are applicable.

In my opinion, the company needs to reimburse the travel tickets for an employee, and it would vary from grade to grade. If the company hasn't disclosed the relocation point to an employee at the time of appointment, then a decent hike should be given on the present salary, and all the benefits will remain the same.

Greetings,

I am a new member and still hung up on the relocation policy. We are into trading and services. We have technical staff to work on machineries for industrial and manufacturing plants. Recently, one of our clients reorganized and has adapted the contracting of outside technical resources.

We will be placing 2 service personnel in that town about 200 km away from our office. We have acquired a staff house there and furnished it. The staff house is about ten minutes from the facility. From time to time, we send an augmentation team to assist with the workload.

Kindly help me as I need to develop a relocation policy for the 2 permanent personnel and for the augmentation team. How should I address the reimbursable expenses and meal allowances? Rent and utilities are paid by the company. What rules and regulations should I impose to safeguard the rented property?

I feel that the augmentation team is half-hearted when we send them out.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Maris

Some people may not relocate their families when they are moved. In such cases, you should consider providing a dislocation allowance in addition to offering bachelor accommodation, provided that your company policy allows for it.
