One of the useful features, mostly missed, is to use this as an Effect-Cause diagram. Many times management wants an effect - start 5 product launches by quarter-end, create a new facility, or complete a project. Then the principle can be used for identifying the factors crucial for completing the project. The procedure for identifying the factors is the same, except that we are using this for factors, not causes. I have used this successfully and have got results.
