What’s the Minimum Age for Hiring in Karnataka’s Electronic Industry? Seeking HR Insights

Dear Seniors, Please advise on what is the minimum age requirement in the electronic industry at the time of appointment as per the Karnataka Factory Act. Also, could you provide information on the documents that need to be maintained for each employee in the HR Department? I am eagerly awaiting your prompt response on this matter.

A person who is at least 18 years old can join any type of employment.

Dear Solomon,

You can appoint individuals who are 18 years old and above. In compliance with the Karnataka Factory Act, the minimum documents to be maintained in an employee's personal file are as follows:

1. CV
2. Age proof / ID proof / address proof
3. Appointment letter
4. Copies of certificates / experience letters, etc.
5. PF, ESI, gratuity nomination forms
6. Index page / checklist
For staff members, ensure to collect PAN numbers.

As other seniors have mentioned, the minimum age for employment in an establishment is 18. There is no act called the Karnataka Factory Act; it is the Karnataka Factory Rules.
