Salary Increment Promised but Not Delivered: How Should I Address This Issue?

vallishk
I have received a letter from the company on Feb-11 stating that I will be getting an increment in my salary by Rs 2000 (retrospective from November-10). However, I also received the March-11 salary, and there was no change for the past 5 months. The salary slip does not reflect any increment, and even the managers are unaware of the current situation in the company.

What should I do?

Your letter mentions the date within which the increment would be in effect. Please look for the date when it would be disbursed. In case it is not mentioned in your letter, please check with the HR team. Generally, the bonus and hikes are rolled over a period to retain the employees.

Wish you all the best!

Please check the effective date (w.e.f.) in your increment letter. Only then can I suggest further steps.

Check it out with the rest of the employees. If it's the same with all of you, then speak to the HR Executive regarding this. At the same time, send an email keeping your boss in the loop. If it's only your case, then send an email attaching the scanned copy of the increment letter.

Understanding the Increment Issue

As per my understanding, please check the effective date of the increment. It may have occurred due to some problem in the payroll system. For any clarification, it's better to interact with the HR department as they are the best ones to guide you.

Don't panic, Vallishk!

Take it up with a senior manager. It's a cause for concern. Has this been intimated to the payroll section? Check with them as well. Maybe you received a letter that was mistakenly not marked to them.

If all documentation is correct and you are still not receiving all the benefits as stated in your offer letter, increment letter, or promotion letter, you should inform HR with a written notification and a photocopy of each document. Obtain the OC signature on the other copy, and if the company does not take appropriate action, you can take legal action against your company in the labor court.

It depends on you which method you choose to follow.
