I am working as an IT Recruiter. Here are some questions to help identify fake experience. These questions will assist you in determining if the candidate is genuinely seeking a career change or has fabricated their experience:

1. What is the reason for seeking a change?
2. Can you provide details about your current CTC?
3. Ask about their current company and projects. For instance, inquire about the technologies used in their projects, their role in the projects, team size, and request a brief overview of a project. Verify the provided details on their resume simultaneously.
4. Request the candidate to send a test email or a blank email from their official Email ID.

The best way to ascertain whether the experience shown by a candidate in his resume is bona fide is to subject him to questions about the particular assignments he claims to have handled or is handling. For this, it is necessary that the persons conducting the interview should have a thorough knowledge of the subject. Furthermore, to ascertain the correctness of the details of the CTC, searching questions can be posed. Questions such as: What is your take-home salary? What are your savings? Do you have a permanent account number? Have you paid any tax during the last year? From these questions, a fair idea about the CTC can be obtained.

I will agree with all the suggestions given. I want to add some more which may help to determine whether it is real or fake:

1. Have a brief excel sheet about the candidate's resume, listing the skills they have used and for how many projects.
2. Just read through the projects to understand whether they have actually worked on them or simply mentioned them.
3. While validating, compare what you have prepared with the answers provided by the candidate.
4. Collect all the relevant data from the candidate.
5. Identify any gaps in his CV.

I have been working in an MNC as an HR for the past 10 years. Sometimes it's easy to spot a fake resume, but most of the time, it's not. It's better to follow the company rules and casually check the details. There's no need to delve deep into their information and conduct investigations like CID. Doing so may lead even genuine candidates to appear as fake. It's better not to worry about fake experience as long as the person's work is good and beneficial to our company.
