Navigating Labor Licenses: Do We Need Separate Permits for Multiple Locations?

amit adhav1986
Dear All, I am working in the hospitality industry, and we have obtained a labor license under state rules. Our contract employees are working in the same company but at two different locations. Do we need to obtain two separate licenses, or is one sufficient within the provisions?

Seniors, I request your advice and guidance on this matter.

Thank you,

Amit Adhav

You have stated that you have engaged contract laborers in two different locations. In case both locations are under the jurisdiction of the same District Labor Officer, then you need not obtain another Labor License. If they are under the jurisdiction of two different DLOs, in that case, you have to obtain another labor license from the concerned DLO under whose jurisdiction you have deployed contract labor.

Hope this answers your query.

No, you are not required to obtain two different licenses, but you are required to have two different Registration of Establishment Certificates issued to the employer.

Dear Amit,
Licence and registration are two different obligations depending on the number of employees engaged through a contract under the Contract Labour Act (CLA). Since you are a principal employer and have engaged more than 19 workers, you need registration with the authority. The license is issued to the contractor if the individual has more than 19 workers. For less than 19 workers, nothing is required.

Thank you for your suggestions. Both locations are under the same DLO (District Labour Office), and at both locations, there are more than 20 contract employees.

Hi seniors, I am new to this forum. I am working as an Assistant Manager-HR for a sole proprietorship company registered under the AP Shops and Establishments Act. Our employees are engaged in different locations on a contract basis. So, I have several doubts because previously I have worked for private limited companies, and I am new to this sector. I want to know:

1. What are the exact rules applicable to this organization?
2. Do I need to take a contract labor license for each and every site?

Please help me and guide me.

Regards,
Deepthi Prasad
