Starting a Training & Development Department: How to Build Effective Modules and Assess Success?

Hi friends,

We are about to start the Training & Development department in our organization. Kindly guide on how we should prepare the training module and skill matrix for shop floor to managerial level. Also, please advise on how to assess its efficiency, i.e., training effectiveness.

Could you also guide if any online/correspondence university provides courses related to this field?

Hi Dhea,

How to measure its efficiency regarding training: you should use a question-answer format related to that training after completion of the training. After 3 months, the department HOD should also fill out another format with that employee to assess whether he has learned from the training.

In short, you can provide 2 formats to measure Training Effectiveness.

Dear Dhea,

Designing the complete functions of a "T&D" is significant. Starting with Training Need Analysis, it involves Building of the skill matrix, Pre-training assessment, Choice of the trainers, training style, training duration, training location, Program execution, Evaluation of the program and trainers through feedback. Building a knowledge base for future reference is also essential.

Each of these tasks can be further subdivided. Create checklists for each of these tasks and provide them to us. We aim to develop one of the best systems. All the best.
