Is There a Legal Safe Distance for Equipment Near Trenches? Seeking Advice

Dear all, today one of our subcontractors was pouring concrete with the help of a concrete mixer. They parked the vehicle near the trench due to limited space, and when I saw this, it raised a question in my mind.

Is there any legally required safe distance for equipment working near a trench or excavation?

I am not aware of any legislation for this. However, what we are doing is as follows:

The movement of vehicles and heavy cranes should be at least 3 feet (1 meter) away or 1.5 times the depth of the excavation, whichever is greater. When vehicles or equipment are operating near excavations, the sides must be shored or braced as necessary to withstand the force exerted by the superimposed load. Additionally, stop-logs or other substantial barricades must be installed to protect the edge of such excavations.

Dear Dipil, thanks for your quick response. If you have any international or local regulation documents, please check them. I just want to know what the rule says because we have three types of soils: class A, class B, and class C. As per your previous reply, it's not applicable for all types of soils. I have checked online and asked known persons, but I didn't get the right or proper solution. Waiting for commands. Thanks in advance. Hope to get more participation on this thread.

As per Indian standard BIS - 3764, heavy equipment, such as excavating machinery and road traffic, should be kept back from the excavated sides at a distance not less than the depth of the trench or at least 6 meters for trenches deeper than 6 meters.
