Dear All,

I have been working as an HR & Admin for a telecom company. I want to know what the appraisal period is. Do we appraise from the date of joining or from the date of confirmation? Please provide a detailed clarification.

Regards,
Vishwanath

Dear Vishwanath,

It depends on the company policy as to how long after the duration of service they conduct appraisals. However, it is confirmed that an employee will only receive an appraisal after their confirmation with the company. Furthermore, performance will be appraised from the very first day of their joining and not from the date of confirmation.

Dear Vishwanath,

Regarding the appraisal period, it is generally for a year (12 months), but nowadays many call centers have come up with a shorter duration of the appraisal period, i.e., 6 months. Usually, the period is from April to March or from January to December.

The appraisal is done from the date of joining. Typically, most organizations do not appraise the employee if the appraisal period is before their confirmation. As per the terms during the appointment, the appraisal is done at the confirmation or after a year.

I hope the above clears your query. Please revert for any further clarification.

Best Regards,
Tina

Depending on the organization's policy, performance appraisals are generally calculated based on quarterly and half-yearly plans. The appraisal process involves HR personnel assigning tasks to employees according to their job profiles in the month of April. Subsequently, in September, we monitor their progress on these tasks.
