Seeking Advice on Choosing Ph.D. Topics in HR: Any Experienced Guides or Graduates Here?

Respected Sirs,

I am Mitesh Makwana from Gujarat, currently working in Karnataka in the sugar industry. I have recently been appointed as a trainee personnel officer (5th March). I am now interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in HR. I would greatly appreciate your help in selecting topics for my research. If anyone has completed a Ph.D., please share your contact number. For those who are Ph.D. guides, your assistance would be invaluable.

Thank you for your support.

I also wish to do a Ph.D. in HR, but I'm looking for good guidance. Is it possible to pursue a Ph.D. while working in an office environment? I believe it might be easier if we are in the teaching profession rather than in any industry.

Help me in this regard.

Thanks & Regards,
Sivaranjani Sriram

Office environment or teaching profession doesn't make a very big difference. Both have their own advantages. If you are in an educational institution, you can make use of the library, but when in a company, approaching for data collection would be easier.

Please decide the area of interest. It is better to choose a guide according to your area of interest. Then, you need to decide the university. You can pursue a Ph.D. only with those guides who have registered under that university. However, there are a few universities without this barrier.

Good Luck.

Dear All,

I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in HR, but I heard from one of my friends that one needs to complete an MPhil before pursuing a Ph.D. Even IGNOU university is asking for an MPhil before opting for a Ph.D. in management. I request your guidance on this matter. My email address is k.sairamu@gmail.com.

Hi,

Unless you plan to pursue a career in teaching, a Ph.D. would not add value in the industry. Consider pursuing an MBA if teaching is not your goal, or engage in certification courses that will enhance your skills and value. The current scenario is different.

Dear Sairamu,

If you have 2-3 years of work experience, you can directly pursue a PhD. There is no need to complete an M.Phil. However, this rule may vary from university to university.

Dear All,

I have an MBA in HR but still want to pursue my PhD in HR. I have 4 years of experience in HR and am currently working as an HR Manager.

Can you please suggest a university where I can pursue my PhD and also recommend specific topics to be covered? I completed my MBA from Tamil Nadu Madurai University.

Thank you all in anticipation. Additionally, I want to acknowledge the significant contribution that citehr has made in my HR journey, along with the blessings from my God.

Thank you for everything.
