Is It Okay to Start at My Dream Job Before Officially Leaving My Current Company? Advice Needed!

kuttyjith
Hi, I have joined Company A exactly one month ago. Now, I have received an offer from Company B, which is my dream company. I have informed Company A about my resignation due to a personal emergency and requested to resign. The notice period from Company A is typically 2 months, but since there is no contract in place, the exact notice period is not confirmed yet.

I need to start at Company B by the end of this month. I have decided not to include my experience at Company A in my profile and do not require a relieving letter from them. I have not disclosed my current employment with Company A to Company B.

Since I cited a personal emergency as my reason for leaving, Company A seems understanding about my resignation, especially since I have not been assigned to any project or started any work.

My concern is whether it is acceptable to start at Company B by the end of this month, even if my last working day at Company A will be after I join Company B. Are there any potential issues that may arise after I start at Company B?

I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

It is unethical to do that. Whether it is illegal, only those who know the law can comment.

If you have not signed any contract and are prepared to forego the pay for the time worked, quit and go. But be prepared for any backlash. For example, if Company B should somehow find out what you did, they may consider you unreliable.

Professional Ethics in Job Transitions

See, we have to have professional ethics. The same thing occurred with me. I got a job at Tata Group after joining an organization, but I didn't resign from the earlier job; I continued with much passion. If you are still in a position to move, then go ahead without taking the remuneration. All the best.

Thank you for replying. I have formally resigned from Company A, and they have accepted my resignation. The only issue is that I only have 1 month of experience with Company A, so I do not want to include it in my profile. I believe this should not cause any problems. Please reply to me.
