How Long Does a PF Account Stay Active? Seeking Guidance from the Community

How long will our PF account remain active? Can anyone help me with this?

PF Account Accumulation

PF accumulations will remain there until they are withdrawn. However, an account not updated with any further credit for a period of three years from the last transaction will not accrue any interest.

Dear Arun,

Your PF account will remain active forever until you withdraw it; it is your property. You may have seen the advertisement on TV that from 1st April 2011, if there are no transactions in your PF account, you are not eligible to receive any further interest on it.

The reason it stays active forever is in case a candidate is jobless and really needs money during this period, is searching for a new job, or is unable to find a job, resulting in no transactions in the PF account. The government does not penalize the candidate by deactivating their PF account.
