How Do I Create a Salary Band for an Assistant Manager in a Tier 2 IT Company?

SaravanaPriya
I joined as an Assistant Manager - HR in a private IT company. Can anyone give me some ideas on band structure and current market salary trends in tier 2 IT companies? I need to form a salary band based on it.

Dear Priya,

Please go through the various types of bands.

Steps to Create a Band Structure

FIRST, CREATE A LIST OF TOTAL JOB POSITIONS IN THE ORGANIZATION. SECOND, SEGREGATE THEM INTO JOB FAMILIES AS PER OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATIONS - TECHNICAL, ADMINISTRATION, PROFESSIONAL, ETC. THIRD, PLACE THEM AS PER THEIR IMPORTANCE AND MERIT IN ORDER OF MOST IMPORTANT TO LEAST IMPORTANT IN VERTICAL LEVELS OF JOBS FOR PLACING INTO HIERARCHICAL GRADE LEVELS. FOURTH, CLUB THEM INTO A CLUSTER OF JOBS IN A HORIZONTAL GRADE STRUCTURE WITH MINIMUM TO MAXIMUM SALARY SPREAD WITH MINIMUM-MID-MAXIMUM SALARY RANGE IN EACH GRADE. THEN DENOTE THOSE GRADES AS A, B, C, D, OR M1, M2, M3, WHATEVER YOU FEEL FIT AS GRADE STRUCTURE.
