Hello! To learn any language effectively, you just need to do the following four things:
1. Listen
2. Speak
3. Read
4. Write
This concept is also called the 'LSRW' concept. You must continuously hear the language you wish to learn or improve. To achieve this, surround yourself with people who speak the language well. It's important to hear the sound of the language and the correct pronunciations. For example, listen to English news channels such as CNN, NDTV, and IBN to observe pronunciation, sentence construction, intonation, and more. When you encounter a new word, jot it down, consult a dictionary (it's helpful to carry a pocket dictionary), and use the word in your conversations.
While listening, develop the habit of speaking the language correctly, focusing on pronunciation. Effective speaking skills come from listening to proficient speakers.
Additionally, make a habit of reading quality newspapers and magazines like TOI and India Today. Read them aloud, not silently.
Next, enhance your skills by writing frequently, forming sentences with newly learned words. Remember, there are no shortcuts to improving language skills other than consistent practice.
To begin your language learning journey, utilize English language resources available in your city, such as those offered by reputable colleges/universities, the British Library, or US/UK consulates. Best wishes in your pursuit.
Warm regards,
Vijay

Dear All,
I appreciate the contributions made by everyone. Allow me to clarify with an example:
1. Listen - Consider a newborn baby who initially only listens. Intense listening is crucial, such as tuning into news channels or English rap songs with lyrics.
2. Speak - After listening, the baby starts to speak a few words taught by family members. Practice speaking English in front of a mirror for self-assessment.
3. Read - As speaking improves, reading becomes easier. Read your local English newspaper regularly.
4. Write - Eventually, the ability to write develops. Challenge yourself by writing on random topics given by friends or family members.
In summary, don't hesitate to learn English. Treat yourself like an infant in the learning process. Remember, your progress will come in due time.
Regards,
HASSAN
