How Can I Check and Claim My Unclaimed Provident Fund from the 1990s?

I worked for a private firm in Bangalore (Delhi-based company) during 1990-1992. I have not claimed my PF amount, which may be lying in the Delhi PF Office. I have a PF account number. Please let me know how to check the status of my unclaimed PF amount. Can I claim it now? Please suggest.

I think you should immediately claim it as there is now a rule that PF unclaimed for more than a year or so will be charged a penalty (not aware of the %). You can go to the PF office and inquire about it. Keep in mind always that whenever you change the company, continue using the same PF account number in the next company as well. This should be done until you retire or as long as you work and keep changing jobs.

I hope this information was helpful to you.
