Are There Indian HR Policies to Protect MNC Employees from Excessive Work Hours?

Hi all, are there any policies, rules, and regulations regarding women employees' work timings and overtime work in MNCs? Is there any act to restrict the work pressure on MNC employees? Some companies are distressing employees with their relentless working hours, insisting that employees work for more than 12 hours per day without weekends off and leaves, irrespective of the conditions.

Who Can Put a Check on Such a Work Culture?

Who can control this?

I would like to know the Indian HR policies for MNCs. Could you please clarify my doubt?

There are laws in India relating to employees employed in factories. For employees working in a factory, you have to refer to The Factories Act, 1948, and the rules (state & central). For employees working in an office or any commercial establishment, The Shops & Establishments Act of that particular state is applicable.

It does not depend on the status of the organization. Regardless of whether it is an MNC, Indian company, partnership firm, or proprietorship firm, labor and employment laws are applicable to all organizations.

Whenever a multinational corporation (MNC) operates in India, they are required to comply with Indian regulations. MNCs must register under various acts such as the Companies Act, Shops Act, or Factories Act, among others. Subsequently, they must adhere to the corresponding rules and regulations.

These MNCs would have received exemptions from labor laws. The only solution I see to resolve this problem is to approach the Human Rights Commission and inform them in writing about the situation of the employees of the MNCs.

Also, approach the High Court or the Supreme Court of India with proper statistics detailing the problems faced by employees in MNCs, which are even impacting the marital lives of those employees. I don't have the exact statistics, but to some extent, I can say that the individuals coming to Family courts are employees of MNCs due to the mental pressure they experience at work. This pressure affects both women and men.
