How to Recruit Candidates, Apart from Portals?

To recruit candidates apart from using portals, you can explore various alternative methods such as:

1. **Employee Referrals:** Encourage your current employees to refer qualified candidates from their network. Employee referrals often result in high-quality hires.

2. **Networking Events:** Attend industry-specific events, job fairs, and networking sessions to connect with potential candidates in person.

3. **Social Media Platforms:** Utilize platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to showcase job openings and engage with passive candidates.

4. **Professional Organizations:** Join relevant professional organizations and leverage their platforms to reach out to experienced professionals in your industry.

5. **Recruitment Agencies:** Partner with recruitment agencies specializing in your field to access their talent pool and expertise in candidate sourcing.

By diversifying your recruitment strategies beyond traditional job portals, you can tap into new talent pools and enhance your overall hiring process.

Dear Nazia,

The best way is to go through internal referrals; they have always worked for me. 

Apart from the available job portals, you have social networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Orkut, and Twitter. It's not the best or immediate solution, but you can rely on them. When you are calling the candidates, always ask for references as they work out well. 

Thank you.

Apart from job portals (which are active means), below are the other sources:

1. Company referrals (Buddy reference)
2. Networking through friends, friends' friends
3. Networking through portals like LinkedIn, Facebook, Brijj, etc.
4. Newspaper Ads / classified Ads
5. Google search / Yahoo groups search
6. Hoardings are also used seldom.
7. There are a couple of sites where you can post your ad for free (Quikr/ Shine Jobs, etc.).
8. Last but not least - The major tool for sourcing is HEAD HUNTING.

Hope this is useful for you.

Apart from portals, you should try social networks like HR@Hyderabad, especially for HR, Admin, and Training. I got a good response. Send emails to friends and ex-colleagues for headhunting purposes.

Nowadays, shopping malls are the best bet. The HR team sits with a portable cabin (available at a meager cost of Rs. 15,000-20,000 per day), and heavy canvassing goes on. Many times, the message is best spread there. On-the-spot registration gets a gift. You can expect a good rush and a long line.

Alternative Methods for Extracting CVs

A lot of CVs are available on the internet and can be extracted using search strings in search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Mamma Metasearch, Altavista, etc.

Try this on Google: +~cv "job title" -~job.

Hey, how do you think we can leverage social networking for recruitment? I mean, other than just opening a company page and posting on it. Please help me with some innovative ways of recruiting through social networking. I have a consultancy for BPOs, and I'm working as an ops manager as well.

Although many sources have already been mentioned in the earlier posts, one that remains is Mapping. Mapping involves asking for references from the individuals you are considering during the recruitment process. This process is often referred to as group job hopping. When we need to hire two or more people, we screen all of them and aim to place them all within our company.

Thank you.

In what type of industry are you? The sourcing of candidates differs from industry to industry. I read the question you asked on the first page. I think you are looking for some materials to help answer such questions in the exam.

Please be more specific when you ask, or else it seems like you have an exam tomorrow and are preparing for the answers.

Exploring Beyond Job Portals for Recruitment

Job portals are the obvious choices, but with technology and innovation, you can look beyond job sites to recruit hard-to-find talent. There are various tools available that can help you find candidates. Additionally, if you are a large organization or consultancy firm, you can utilize services from companies that manage resume databases.

Innovative Recruitment Tools

One interesting tool that I came across is TalentBin, which provides recruiters access to candidate profiles aggregated from various social sources across the web.

Hi, Nazia.

There are many options to recruit skilled candidates, such as placing ads in local newspapers or utilizing social media platforms like LinkedIn. On LinkedIn, job seekers create profiles showcasing their skills, making it easy for recruiters to find deserving candidates. Additionally, there are other options available, such as posting classified ads on various websites.

You can use InterviewBuddy Pro (https://www.interviewbuddy.online), which is an online video interviewing software used for recruiting candidates easily and in a cost-effective way.

HR professionals feel comfortable using this software as it provides custom templates already built-in without the need for HR to create them again from scratch.

Try it and enjoy the ease of recruiting.

Hello, I am a fresher working as a recruiter in a consultancy firm. Sourcing experienced candidates is difficult. Can you please help me with how to source candidates other than from Naukri and LinkedIn?

Ask your superiors for training to build your skills. Also, find out how the company has recruited in the past, what worked, and what didn't.
