Previous Employer Closed? How to Withdraw PF Without Their Signature

In case the previous employer has closed down the business, and an ex-employee of that company wishes to apply for the withdrawal of PF, what should he/she do in the absence of an authorized signatory to sign his/her forms?

In that case, you can fill out Form 13 to transfer your PF, and after it gets transferred, you can withdraw it.

You can get your form attested from:

1. Manager of the bank where you have an account.
2. Head of an educational institute.
3. A gazetted officer.
4. The Magistrate.
5. President of village/Panchayat/MP/MLA.

Hi Simran, however, what if the previous establishment has shut down and there will be no one available to attest a Form 13 too? I read on the EPFO website that one can get it attested by the manager of a nationalized bank or a gazetted officer. However, I was advised by a consultant that it is still difficult to withdraw the amount. Please suggest.

If the previous organization has shut down, you can get the form attested by the manager where you have your savings account. That account should be mentioned in your PF withdrawal form, where the PF money will be transferred. Avoid attestation from a Gazetted officer.
