Creating a Relaxed Office: What In-House Activities Can Boost Staff Morale?

payal80
Dear Friends,

I want to organize some in-house activities in my office to make my staff members more relaxed and fresh. Could someone guide me on what activities we can perform to create a better working environment? Thank you.

Hi,

What industry are you working in? Some things you can try would be the Dress Code days, Color days, mind/brain games, etc. You can have people-centric awards such as Best Dressed, Best Couple, Best Team Joker, etc. I believe the mind/brain games could be renewed as we can find some online. Rest assured, most of us have probably tried them. If you have a client walk-in, then you can try to involve them too (provided they are interested).

Thank you!

Hi dear, I think why on every Friday, don't you have a small gathering in the office itself after working hours? A bit like a party with food, drinks, managers meeting the staff - a get-together once a week with the staff to show them they are being taken into consideration. Or even the exchange of small, cheap gifts.

Hi,

What I would suggest is that employees are less moody at the workplace and most of the time they are in target-oriented behavior. So, introduce playing music, snacks, get-togethers between subordinates and superiors, and remember that these get-togethers should be informal so that both can discuss their personal matters. Arrange a camp, fair, or party for employees, their families, or their children. This will help a lot in interacting with employees easily. Make a change in weekends if possible or increase the lunch break, introduce flexible work hours up to a certain limit, arrange indoor sports, poetry competitions, and introduce some unique recreational activities.

Bye,

Hi Payal, You can organize a day filled with fun, frolic & games - Outside or inside the premises (as suitable). You can invite all your employees with their spouses & children. Organize drawing, painting, singing and dancing competition for the children and couple games (couple doesn't mean only life partners) for all the employees and executive management members. You could look for some quiz competition also (general knowledge or based on your organizational mission / vision / policies etc.) Try for following: „X Antakshri „X Dumb Charades „X Different races (depending on the age) e.g. lemon & spoon, needle & thread, 3 legged race, frog race, sack race etc. „X Musical Chair „X Queen Sheeba „X Mix the sandals of all the females and ask the males to identify their wife¡¦s sandals (you can try this with other accessories also) „X Arrange for treasure hunt „X Volleyball / Cricket / Football / Basketball etc. Traditional Games: „X Kho-Kho „X Chain-Chain (we used to play this when we were kids ¡V a very good team game) „X Seven Tiles / Pittoo Keep small gifts for the winners (depending on your budget CD players, watch pair, video games etc.) Return gifts may also be given to the children. Do keep in mind the weather condition for the choice of place for the event. Choice of games will vary depending on the place of the event. So first decide your place of the event. Do not cross your budget limit. For any further assistance do let me know. Sweety Singh

Hi, I want some type of games in which the employees show some initiative, like keeping their cabins clean or having the best desk in the office so that they do not pile up papers on their desks. Something along those lines... or perhaps having the employee who has the dirtiest desk make a paper holder for themselves. This is just a draft idea. 😉 Please suggest something else as well.
