Can Companies Blacklist You for Faking Work Experience? Seeking Clarity on Employment Risks

kolipakula
Actually, my friend had given information about his experience in his previous company, stating that he is still working there. However, he had only worked for 2.5 years and added an extra year to his tenure. He applied to one company with this falsified experience. During the application process, they requested details such as the offer letter, performance review letter, and pay slip for the issuance of an offer letter. He only submitted the offer and performance review letters. Upon discovering the deception regarding his work experience, the company did not provide him with the offer letter. We later found out that the company has the authority to blacklist individuals who use fake experience, thus preventing them from securing employment anywhere in India. Is it true that companies have the right to blacklist candidates who have misrepresented their experience? Please assist us with this matter.

Exploring Company Actions on Fake Experience Letters

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is the primary organization under the Government of India responsible for governing such matters. They maintain a database known as the defaulter database. Any company can submit the necessary documents to update a defaulter's name in the database. This process entails substantial evidence. Once proven, a letter is issued to the defaulter informing them of their blacklisting, and their name is updated in the database.

As an example, Infosys annually dismisses 10-15 percent of employees due to fake letters, but they have taken minimal action thus far. The most significant action they have taken is barring the individual from reapplying to Infosys.

Please refrain from engaging in such activities. If you truly wish to prove something, consider working on open-source projects. With the current IT boom, why involve yourself in such wrongdoing?
