Struggling to Create a Daily Work Report for a Traveling Boss – Any Tips or Templates?

I've been asked by my new boss, who travels frequently, to produce a daily work report while he is away. I've been trying to find a template or direction on how best to go about this, but haven't had any luck so far. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
