Dear Friends,
First of all understand the meaning of the word Dearness Allowance and Special Allowance. Dearness Allowance is based on index (CPCI) and is calculated as per the agreement between the company and union in a unionised company.
Special allowance is declared once in six months in Maharashtra State. Special Allowance is declared to fix the minimum wages for the unskilled, semiskilled, skilled and highly skilled employees.
This clarification I am giving you because in one of the company instead of special allowance the management by mistake wrote dearness allowance and then there was lots of problem before it was sorted out.

Once in the Govt. of Mr.Atalbihari Vajpeyee, it was decreased (Applicable for the period 01.07.99 to 31.12.99).

Can u let us know the difference between DA and Special aloowances to to whom each is applicable.
If we employ a housekeeping, techincian, electrician, security gauards then along with basic wages do we need to pay Da or Special Allowances or both.
