Pursuing Diplomas at AIIMAS: Seeking Advice

Planned to do two diploma courses at All India Institute of Management & Studies (AIIMAS, Chennai).

[Link to All India Institute of Management Studies](http://www.aiimas.com)

1. Diploma in Human Resources Development (6 months - distance learning)
2. Diploma in Labour Laws (6 months - distance learning)

I called, and while speaking with the counselor there, I learned that:

- No classes will be conducted for either of the courses.
- You can pursue two courses simultaneously.
- An exam will be held at the end of the 6 months, and the result & certificate will be provided at the end of the 7th month.
- The certificate issued by AIIMAS is recognized worldwide.

When I requested the counselor for two references from previous batch students, she declined, saying, "If you are interested in joining, we are unable to make efforts to search for previous batch candidates' numbers and provide them to you."

Kindly inform me whether pursuing a diploma at AIIMAS would benefit me in India and abroad as well?

Regards,
Miracle

This is the first time I am hearing the name of this college, after being in Chennai for quite a long time. I happened to visit their website after seeing your post and understood that this institution is not affiliated with any university (UGC approved) in India. If the courses are not provided/issued from a UGC-recognized university (through a college affiliated with a university), they will not be recognized in India and abroad. I would strongly suggest you look for something better and worth pursuing. You can even get in touch with me for other options.

Dear Iker, Please be informed that AIIMAS is not UGC granted; thus, its value is less than any granted university. Just to inform you, AIIMAS is a management institute, not a university. I suggest you consider Kamraj University, IGNOU, Osmania, or other universities for diploma courses. I believe they hold more validity both in India and abroad. Personally, I am about to join the Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Management, as recommended by my seniors here abroad. Kindly prefer diplomas through universities.

Thanks,

As Mr. Sayeed referred, you can opt for any university that is UGC recognized and provides you with a diploma in correspondence mode. To name a few, Madras University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Annamalai University, and Pondicherry University. Visit the websites of these universities to gather more details on the courses.

All the best.
