Should Asbestos Gloves Be Used In Construction - Please Advice On Safety Measures

Dear Sirs,
We use asbestos gloves in butt welding operation. Is asbestos gloves banned?
But I am aware asbestos is banned in construction. But what about gloves. If so what is the alternative. Urgent. Pls. reply.

Any item made up of Asbestos in banned... You can go for Kevlar Clothing as a substitute for this... Its costly but, very effective one... One Kevlar hand gloves of 10 Inch costing around 600rs... We are using the same in our plant...

As Dipil said, Asbestos is banned. Instead of kevlar gloves, I can suggest leather gloves for welding operations.

Kevlar can be suggested for handling of hot materials... What do you feel about this?

As per my knowledge asbestos is used where highly heat resistance is required... And normally not using asbestos hand gloves for the welding operations... As Kevlar is also heat restiance clothing, we have to recommend this as a replacement where exposure to high temp. is required...
For welding I am agreeing that leather hand gloves is ok...

Thanks to both for ur input. The welding I mentioned here is butt welding, the process itself is different here where the two ends of a steel job is melt at high temperature(Nealy 800'C aprox.) and fused together at high pressure. At this temp. range leather glove is ok or Kevlor? Pls. advise.

I will suggest you to go ahead with Kevlar... Leather is not a substitute for Asbestos...
