Why Do Employees Ignore HR Policies and How Can We Encourage Better Awareness?

arunmandyam
It is observed that despite having a well-framed HR policy, many people in the organization do not bother to know the HR policy. Although it is important, it is often neglected. Seniors are requested to address this issue and suggest remedies for proper education.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Arun,

There are a few reasons for it:

1. Lack of orientation training during induction.
2. Policy review mechanism.
3. Tracking of changes in policy.
4. Distribution mechanism.
5. No common point of reference.

Feel free to contact me for a more detailed description.

Hi Arun,

One of the ways to educate employees about the company's policies is by taking floor pulses, i.e., taking sessions in small groups and revising policies. You can also set up a quiz in between or at the end to make the session more interactive and interesting.

Hi, I would like to know what points should be kept in mind before framing company policies. Should these points be derived from any laws?

Thanks,
Naveen.

The policy can be found on the company website. As suggested by Mr. Sreedharan, it is very important to share the policy with new entrants during induction training. Any person in the company who violates the policy can be issued an advice letter immediately so that the message spreads that the company takes HR policy seriously.
