Difference Between Designation & Position?

I am confused about difference between Position and Designation.Please share the difference with me.

Dear Zeeshan.
Designation is Identifying word or words by which someone or something is called and classified or distinguished from others or u can say designation is something by which u can identify some1 in an organization.
And Position is a job in an organization or hierarchy.
So in short we can say Designation is used for classifying or distiguinshed a person from others in an organisation and position reflects a person's responsibility or hierarchy in the ladder of organization.

You mean that designation is post or rank of a person in the organization with respect to grade or scale but the position is the duties of the person in that particular organization.

I need to diffrenciate between position and job title; if I want to create a vacancy how I can nominate both. for example : marketing manager is a job title or a position ?
