Interviewing for a Recruiter Role: What Questions Should You Really Expect?

lovelygrg
Recently, when I went for an interview for the position of Recruiter, I was asked questions relating to sales and G.K., nothing about HR!! What kind of questions are usually asked for this role?

Hi Lovely!

Could you please give a few examples of what kind of questions were asked? I may be able to help you better with why they were asked, although you were appearing for a recruiter's position.

Some of the questions asked are:
- Map the complete recruitment cycle.
- Name the steps in the recruitment process.
- What strategy would you form to recruit x number of people?
- What are the sources of recruitment that you are familiar with?
If you are a fresher, you need to be familiar with words such as "Cold calling", "Head-Hunting", etc.

Let me know if I was able to help you out with your query.
Good luck for the future, dear!

Thank you very much for such an elaborate explanation. I am a newly appointed HR executive. I wish to get some templates for training and development. Could you please help me with this?

Also, what are the questions that I, as a recruiter, would have to ask my candidates when interviewing them while shortlisting?

Hi,

Various sources of recruiting include:

1. Database search
2. Job portals
3. References
4. Employer search
5. Headhunting
6. Advertising, etc.

While validating, you have to probe them properly by asking questions like:
1. Why are you looking for a change in your job?
2. What is your work profile?
3. Are you okay with relocation if the position is in another state?
4. If needed, you can ask, "Can I know how much you are currently earning?"
5. Depending on their response, you have to judge whether they are serious about changing their job or not.
6. If it involves shifts, you can ask, "Are you okay with shifts?"
7. Questions also depend on the domains, such as BPO, software, FMCG, manufacturing, telecom, etc.

Thanks

Thanks! :)
But, can you please tell me what's the percentage of each job portal references, etc.? I will have to use my personal contacts too, so what percentage does that constitute? Won't job portals, etc., be enough?

Hi John,

I'm Spandana, a new member of CiteHR, and I had never heard the term 'cold calling' before. However, after reading your post, I now understand what it means. Thank you for providing such valuable information.

Thank you.

Dear Shilpa,

How can you explain in three words? If possible, can you give me one example so it will be helpful to me also.

Hi,

Can you please tell me the answers also? It will be more useful like the following questions:

1. What difficulties do you face during recruitment, either while sourcing or validating?
2. What will you do with the unmatched CVs?

Also, if you could answer:
1. What are the new trends that you have come across in HR?

Hello all,

I am an HR student, but I have never come across words like 'cold calling' and 'head-hunting' and how they are linked with HR functions. If anyone can please explain, it would be great!

Thanks,

I want to prepare well in advance for the companies visiting my college for campus recruitment. Please provide me with relevant suggestions, especially regarding GD topics, interview questions (both HR and technical rounds), so that I can groom myself.
