Can I Transfer My EPF Account from Mumbai to Chennai with the Same Number?

Hi friends,

I am working with a company 'A' which is currently located in Chennai with its head office in Mumbai. My EPF account is maintained there. Now, I have received a job offer from company 'B' in Chennai, and they manage their accounts locally.

My query is: Is it possible to transfer my EPF account from Mumbai to Chennai so that I can retain the same EPF number? I have been employed with company 'A' for over 2 years.

Every establishment or factory has its own separate EPF code number, and therefore, it is not possible to have the same PF account number. However, you can submit Form No. 13 through your present employer, which will transfer your old accumulation of contributions to your new account along with the benefit of service years. Just fill out the form and submit it at the Chennai EPF office.
