1. Finalisation of Consultant - GOOD CONSULTANT REFERENCES IF ANY.
WHAT ARE THE ASPECTS TO DECIDE THE
ISO CONSULTANT?? IN THE MARKET?
There are many versatile and expert consultants available in market like BVQI,TUV & BIS.
Always it is advisable to go to reputable and domain consultants in respective filed.
Best thing is to get offers from min. 3 consultants and prepare a comparative evaluation sheet to decide which fits best to your requirements.Criteria of evaluation could be cost,quality,service level,years of experience,no of certifications issued and value added services offered by consultant etc.
2. Required Skill sets to act as Management Representative
To be a good management representative as per my experience you need to poses and develop following competencies ,
- Good understanding of QMS & ISO 9001 standards
- Thorough understanding of business and customer requirements
-Quality tools and basic stastics
-Understanding of business processes and shop floor activities (if domain is manufacturing)
-Helicopter view of organization,in other words how it is crating value to customers (inputs,outputs and control measures)
-Strong observation and communication skiils for auditing
-Good people and intrapersonal skiils
-Diplomaitc,ethical,dicisive,self reliant,clear,versatile etc
-Good relationship with external audit and lilasoning agencies
3. TIme Frame for completion of ISo 9001 process & implementation
Generaly it dpends upon size and nature of organization.Implementation involves training to people,documentation,implementation,Audit and Certification award.But on average it it takes 6-9 months.
4. Will a NON IT Graduate like me will be able to act as MR .If so, what could be the additional areas which i will need to concentrate?
If you are coming form engineering background would certainely be an added advantage.But it doesnt mean that if one is graduated from other stream will limit him or herself form becoming a good MR.It is just a myth.
5.Additional suggestions if any? Pls post it.
Success of implementation of ISO 9001 -QMS standard purely depends upon involvement and commitment form top management.Make sure before embarking on project get go ahead from top mgt and resources and finances needed.
also every body in organization needs to be involved as part of implementation to play their roles.
People involvement is must for successfull implementation.It is people who can make or break the implementation.
