Designing a Development Center: Seeking Your Advice on Tools and Certification Options

Dear Friends, I have to design and implement a development center in my organization. I need your support and help to design assessment tools for this. Please share documents that could help me with this task. If you can provide some samples, including tools and scoring sheets, it would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I am looking for a certification program on Assessment and Development Center. Please recommend some reputable institutes from where I can pursue a course or certification on this subject.

You can start by writing what you want to assess - the qualities, competencies, and KSAs. Based on your requirements, identify the tools. No one tool is sufficient for assessing; you will have to use a combination of tools.

Do the first exercise of identification, and then it'll be easier to identify the tools.

I have already identified the competencies for each role. A well-defined competency framework is in place. Now, I need to assess the employees on each competency. For this, I need tools for assessment. I am seeking guidance on developing these tools for each competency. If you could share any samples or tools, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tools like In-basket, Group Discussion, Role Play, and Presentation can help with DC assessment. Browse the internet to learn more about them. Ideally, a DC consists of two types of assessments:

1. Leadership Assessment
2. Functional Assessment

Leadership Competency Framework

A leadership competency framework must be set at an organizational level. Functional competencies will vary from individual to individual depending on their current and next targeted role.
