Training Needs Identification (TNI) vs. Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
Training Needs Identification (TNI) or Training Needs Analysis (TNA) are the basis on which the Training Strategy and plan are decided. They are used interchangeably; however, there is a slight difference. As the words suggest, Identification only helps you pick the areas of training needed, whereas Analysis helps you understand the deeper hows and whys.
Methods for TNI and TNA
There are a variety of methods that may be used for the same, such as:
- Previous data analysis (Company performance, PMS data, etc.)
- Trend Analysis (for projected growth and proactive training requirements for the upcoming expansion)
- First-hand research through questionnaires and interviews
- Shadowing employees in their work and identifying gaps
And there are many more such methods. Hope this helps. Do let me know if you need any further information or assistance regarding the same.
