Comprehensive Discussion on Psychometric Testing, MBTI, and FIRO-B for Selection Process

Hello Everybody,

I am doing a project on "Implementing Psychometric Testing in the selection process" with a leading Indian MNC. My project includes MBTI and FIRO-B. I have already made a report on MBTI and I have done the mapping of the types with the Job Areas. If anybody needs anything on that, I would be grateful to help.

Now, I am working on FIRO-B. The test and Score sheet are done. I have some write-up too, but still, I need complete information on it and the interpretation of the scores in detail. It would be of great help if somebody could provide me with that.

I have some queries. Is MBTI used for the selection process, and can anybody use it without certification? Because, as per my knowledge, it needs certification. I am very interested in these tests mentioned by you. Please give me some information regarding this. I would be glad. I have attended MBTI Training for a day, and I was impressed. I am also looking for a trainer for this. If you can help me out.

Dear All,

Firstly, Hargovind, MBTI, and FIRO-B are not designed for selection decisions. Please visit the Myers-Briggs Foundation website for caution on this. (I personally know in India and the UK where people are using these instruments for selection and experiencing the aftereffects as well!) It is unethical and irresponsible behavior!

If you need selection tools with a high reliability of .78 or above as recommended by the BPS, you can use 15FQPlus, Occupational Personality Profiling, Sales Preference Inventory, and ability tests like GRT1 & 2, ART, TTB, etc., which I am distributing in India.

I am happy that in the community there are many people interested in MBTI.

I am keeping busy these days and the file is a bit big to attach, so I would zip it or make a compact version of it and mail it to everybody. I will get back to checking the validity in the selection process, and yes, the organization is in the process of taking the license for it. I will float it in a short while. The MBTI should not be used for selection, according to the publisher of the MBTI. If we want to use an assessment, we should verify with the publisher – not the salesperson – that the assessment is valid for the intended use. When selecting employees, we should use a whole-person assessment since job success depends on more than one measurable trait.
