Overcoming Stage Fear in Group Discussions and Presentations: Any Tips for a First-Year Student?

Vivekmani
I am from a village. Now I'm in my first year of undergraduate studies at PSGTECH. I have stage fear when it comes to participating in group discussions and giving presentations in English. Could you please provide me with some guidance on how to overcome this fear? Thank you.

The only way to break fear is to "Fear your Fear." Stage fear is common whether you are from a village or a city. A person's knowledge and confidence level are all that matters. If you are knowledgeable, then confidence automatically attaches. If you are confident, you will crave knowledge and have the urge to succeed.

Simple... Whatever your topic is, be well prepared. Practice once or twice with your home mirror or your close ones. Be receptive to criticisms, be ready for questions (which means be strong in what you deliver), check the accuracy of data once or twice, record yourself and listen to yourself, self-analyze your mistakes, keep track of your body language.

That's it; you will do great.
