Hi, I am from Chennai and am writing on behalf of my brother who is currently working abroad. He was working in Bangalore as a contractor for a reputed software company for 2 years and quit in October 2010. His resignation was accepted by HR with a 30-day notice period. The issue is they did not recruit a backup for my brother during his notice period. Since he needs to join a new company, he has left the current company. My brother has spoken to them several times about his relieving letter, but there has been no proper response. He has sent emails to HR and the manager of the consultancy, who is causing problems in providing his relieving letter. When we called and checked, he says exit formalities need to be completed and speaks very rudely.

Can you please suggest what can be done now? A relieving letter is mandatory for my brother's new job abroad. Can I complete the formalities on behalf of my brother with a signed letter from him? Please help as this is urgent, and I am writing for the sake of my brother's career.
