Is My KPO Experience Valuable for an MBA in HR, or Should I Switch to HR Recruitment?

Priya_pillai
Hello everyone,

I have completed my graduation in BMS last year from Mumbai University. I am currently working in a KPO as a Research Associate, and my current work experience is 1 year.

I wish to pursue an MBA in HR. Will this work experience in the KPO industry provide me with any benefits, or will I be considered on par with a fresher and given a salary package equivalent to a fresher's salary during campus placement?

I have recently been offered a job profile of HR-Recruitment in a leading BPO. Should I switch over to that company or continue working in the KPO industry, assuming that I will have some work experience to boast of while pursuing an MBA in HR?

I aim to gain 2 years of work experience before undertaking an MBA. I hope to use this work experience as an advantage for MBA campus placement. Is my experience in the KPO industry a waste considering my career aspirations in HR?

Also, what are the other HR roles that a graduate can be offered besides recruitment? I have been receiving a lot of offers from HR consultancies for recruitment roles. However, I am unsure if I can gain substantial work experience and learning in the 'recruitment' profile.

I am eagerly waiting for your help.

Hi there!

Aim: You want to get into HR at last, right?

Short Term Goal: You want to pursue an MBA in HR.

Concern: Should you switch over to HR Recruitment or not? Currently in KPO.

Solution: From the above facts, it's clear and quite certain that you want to be in HR. Let's say, hypothetically, you continue in KPO. When you finish your MBA in HR, your HR experience would be more valuable than KPO industry work. So, it's better to move into HR Recruitment. Once you're in the job, you can justify your MBA in HR.

Hi Vinod,

Thank you so much for the help, but it still leaves me with doubts. Should I target a recruitment profile in consultancy or aim for an HR profile in a corporate setting? Also, what are the typical options available for a fresh graduate in the HR field?
