How to Present Yourself & Face Professional Interviews...

Hello Friends, I thank you all very much for the comments and suggestions on my first PowerPoint presentation, which I shared regarding personal effectiveness and time management. The three-hour seminar on the same was a huge success. My audience (CS Students) thoroughly enjoyed it, and believe me, the session was in the afternoon, after the audience had a good lunch and heavy eyes. My task was twofold: first, to convey my message, and second, to keep them awake. I was able to achieve both, keeping them awake and fully engaged.

This is my second PowerPoint presentation aimed at a three-hour session. The session was successful, and the audience (CS Students) greatly benefited from it. There were lots of question-and-answer sessions at the end, which was to my satisfaction. I hope you will also enjoy it.

Please give your suggestions and feedback to make my session more lively and knowledge-oriented.

Regards,
CS Mukesh TANK

Thank you for sharing this document. I would like to expand on the comments made by the members. In today's scenario, interviews have evolved beyond formal questions. A new practice known as 'Lateral Thinking' has emerged, along with other practices where candidates' social networking websites such as Facebook, Orkut, etc., are being monitored to gauge their lifestyle preferences.

Curriculum vitae (CV) are now monitored less, and the focus is more on actual screening. CVs accompanied by a cover letter are preferred.

Thank you.

Best regards

Additional Comments on CV and Interview Preparation

Here are a few more comments from my side:

• Never overestimate your competencies.

• Never disclose your strengths or weaknesses in the CV. These attributes need to be performed or executed.

• When mentioning references, do inform the persons/entities about the interview schedule or at least make them aware.

• Instead of "Career Objectives," you can use the phrase "Career Synopsis." This can be introduced with the phrase "Award-Winning Student in... (could be sports or academics)."

• When detailing job experience, start with the following sequence:
A. Company Name & Location.
B. Your Designation.
C. Duration.
D. Tasks & Responsibilities.
E. Major Highlights or Achievements.
F. Major Projects or Assignments.

Good Morning Mukesh,
Very nice presentation.

At times, we have noticed that job hoppers quite often lie to the interviewer regarding salary levels. However, all your points are worth following.

Thank you.

Hi Suthanthira Selvan, thank you for your suggestion. I did try using a different background, but I felt this one is more suitable for the aspiring students I am targeting with this presentation. It's tailored for students rather than professionals, hence the choice of background.

Thank you once again for your time and suggestions.

The presentation is good. You can also add video conferencing to interview techniques because nowadays many companies are using this methodology for selected candidates.

Answering the Common Interview Question: "Tell Me About Yourself"

The first question often asked during an interview is, "Tell me something about yourself." Please let me know what a suitable answer to this question is.

Hi Rajesh, please check the PPT. I have come across this type of question myself. For this presentation, I have conducted an extensive search, spoken to many HR professionals, and analyzed recent trends. I have provided a sample answer to this question. If you still require any clarification, do let me know.
