Dear all,
Thanks a lot for gr8 discussion but sorry i m late.
i would also lokie to add something.
*Sound has both frequency & intensity
*Frequency or pitch-measured no. of sound vibrations per second
*higher the frequency---higher the pitch
*Intensity-degree of strength or energy
*Noise Induced Hearing Loss---i) Frequency
ii) Intensity
*Intensity over 130db is painful & damage hearing
*Critical level-85-120db not painful but damage ears
Concequences:
1. Difficulty in hearing Background noise
2. Specific hearing limitations;loss happen in high frequencies
OHSAS-requirement for training prog.
1.Employee Training-i) Effects of noise
ii) Hearing protection
iii) Audiometric test
iv) measuring noise
2. Exposure monitoring
3.Aduiometric test
4.Employee follow up
5.Record keeping
6.Noise control
7.Hearing Protection Devices
To measure noise:
DOSIMETER: Body worn instrument, measures & stores sound over time & can be read later
Engg. Surverys:Require sophisticated acoustical equipment that register db level, frequency, intensity of noise from machinery.
Audiometric Test: within 6 months of first exposure to critical level. It measures softests sound you can hear at each test frequency.
* Standard Threshhold Shift:
Significant but decresaes in ability to hear at frequencies first effected by noise exposure.
Notify within 21 days
Some more i will added soon.....lights gone & need to logout.
