Every employee in an organization has a different role. In order to achieve the organizational goals, it is important to appraise the performance of employees in the organization. There are various methods to appraise the same. A very simple and old method is writing confidential reports by a senior on his juniors based on his performance, but such methods are unscientific and subjective. The recent and most popular method is to assign Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) to every employee as per his role requirement. KRAs are assigned and discussed with the employee in advance so that he remains aware that these are the responsibilities he is supposed to perform. KRAs are reviewed periodically. A decline in the KRAs denotes a drop in performance and vice versa. Employees are expected to monitor their ratings regularly to judge their performance in an effective manner.

Dear Members,

KRA stands for Key Result Area. This is used to define performance targets for senior management team members. I have heard that American companies generally use this technique to provide measurability of performance for top management members, so that KRAs can be utilized for conducting appraisals.

Well explained by TR Chhabria on the subject matter. These are the areas wherein every employee of an organization is expected to ensure his predefined deliverables so as to add further towards the growth of the organization.

Dear Professional,

In short, KRA means KYON RAKHA APKO, i.e., you have to perform all those activities/duties for which you have been appointed, keeping in mind the economics involved in each such activity.

I will explain it better for you. KRA stands for Key Result Areas, which are measured to evaluate your performance. This assessment determines whether you will be retained, fired, promoted, etc.

Hope you understand it clearly.

KRA stands for Key Result Areas, which are used to measure the performance of an employee based on the objectives given to him/her at the time of employment. These KRAs change year on year.

KRA, as already mentioned by others, stands for Key Result Area, which refers to the key measurable performances through which an employee or a company's performance can be evaluated. For example, the KRA of an engineer working in production could include:

1. Number of units produced per day
2. Number of rejections, etc.

As an HR professional, your KRAs could encompass:

1. Percentage of attrition per month (regrettable attrition)
2. Number of training sessions delivered (related to HR)
3. Number of employees recruited (if applicable)
4. Introduction of new initiatives from an HR perspective. The benchmarks can be established based on the specific industry you are in.

Best regards,
Jithesh Kumar
