How Does Your HR Department Plan Daily Activities and Set Targets? Seeking Examples!

kaushika
Hello everyone,

How are the day-to-day activities of the HRD department planned? Performance appraisals come once a year, and manpower planning is also done maybe once every 3 to 5 years... and so on. Can you provide a few examples of HRD department targets? I need them for setting the targets of my department.

Dear Kaushik,

Apart from performance management, we have recruitments, training needs, employee opinions, employee engagements, attendance reports to the finance department, medical reimbursements, meetings with employees, and other activities.

Dear Kaushika,

You can have recruitment targets, cost-cutting targets, motivational targets, employee satisfaction targets, and grievance handling targets.

Hi Kaushika,

Abhishek and Shubha have mentioned almost all. In addition, you can have:

1. Recruitment Target: where you set a target to recruit 'x' number of people for various positions (in consultation with your management on expansion plans).
2. A training calendar prepared every year to organize training for all the departments concerned.
3. Attrition Control: Set a target for the department to bring down the attrition rate to x% from y%.

HRD targets can be set in terms of filling any post within a particular time frame, i.e., it should not take more than the set time. Additionally, you can set a time for completing training for everyone in the organization.
