Vlookup: Strange Problem - Xls Download

kamalarya
I have two excel sheets.

The first excel sheet contains the following columns

  • SNO
  • EmpName
  • DateofJoining
  • CardNo
  • Alias

The second file contains the following column

  • SNO

I want to move the DateofJoining column to the second file.

I have tried this umpteen number of times using VLOOKUP with no luck. The Date column in the second file after moving does not show dates however it shows some numbers. I want the exact dates not numbers.

I am attaching the file for your reference.

Please help me solve this Problem.

I do not know what you want to do. Why not just hight light the column and then copy and paste it to the second sheet. Also click on the strings for Vlookup at the right of this box.
Have a nice day.

But in the 2nd sheet you can format the cells with Date.
process -
1. After vlookup in the 2nd sheet please select the 2nd column and right click the mouse
2. In the pop up menu / task bar please click on Format cells
3. In the number tab click opn date and select the format date type you are looking at and click on Ok
4. this solves your concern
