Feeling Stuck Between HR and Teaching: How Do I Choose the Right Path?

alfee
I am Alfred, with an MBA in HR, holding a total of 4.7 years of experience, out of which 3.6 years have been in HR and 1.1 years as a lecturer for MBA students. Recently, I resigned from my job as a lecturer, thinking of pursuing a better career in the corporate world. However, I have not been able to secure a new position yet, and now I am unsure whether I should return to teaching or pursue a different career path in HR.

Kindly guide me with your valuable knowledge and experience.

Thank you.

Regards,
Alfred

I am not sure who advised you to resign without having anything in hand. Since you are in HR yourself, I presume you are aware that the interview performance invariably gets affected adversely (to what extent depends on the individual's mental capability) when one attends interviews without a backup - either the current job or something else in hand.

Not sure if you would agree or not, but my suggestion is to go back to teaching and then begin to look for openings in parallel. Though many companies prefer experience in the same line of activity, quite sometimes openings come where your profile would be advantageous.

All the best.

TS
